A UAE entry permit: what is it?

If you require a visa to enter the country, you must obtain the UAE Entry Permit. Depending on the reason for your trip, the validity period varies.

Before you travel, your sponsor must get an entry permit from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). The duration of your stay in the UAE with an entry permission is determined by the reason for your trip:

• You will be given an entry permit (transit visa) if you are in transit for up to 48 or 96 hours.
• If you plan to visit as a tourist, your entry permit (also known as a tourist visa) is valid for up to 30 days.

UAE Visa Requirements

1. Passport photocopies for both you and your sponsor. You must have a passport that is valid for at least six months.
2. Copies of the pertinent pages from the passport. You might not even need to send your original passport in some circumstances. You are allowed to submit photocopies of the pertinent passport pages (or all the pages in your passport).
3. Photographs the size of a passport, as required by the UAE for visa photos.
