Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the Management Skills Placement Test (MSPT)
A. The DED and the American University in Dubai entered into a contract in December 2017 to establish a Center for Professional Qualification, under which the American University would conduct assessments for the DED’s benefit for a variety of facilities.
You must take the test in order to get your trade license if you are the single shareholder in a professional license. Only one shareholder needs to pass the test if you’re starting a civil firm.
Q. What does the MSPT involve?
A. The actual test lasts for two hours and covers the fundamental ideas and principles of general management, finance, and marketing in the business world. Instead of emphasizing rote learning, the questions are centered on analysis of circumstances similar to those in real life. The 100-question test is administered on a computer at a AUD testing facility. Test Fee: Dh2100.00.
The test is broken down into the following sections:
- Part One: Basic Marketing Questions (24 Points)
- Part Two: Basic Financial Management Questions (20 Points)
- Part Three: Basic Management Questions (20 Points)
- Part Four: Three Short Cases (36 Points)
Total: 100 Points - Passing Score: 60 Points out of 100
Q. How do I register for MSPT?
A. A valid credit card must be used to register and pay for the exam online at https://cepps.aud.edu.
The testing will take place in a computer lab (E 304) on the third level of the School of Engineering Building on particular dates (see attached schedule) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. during Ramadan). On-campus signs will point candidates in the direction of the test location.
Candidates must arrive outside of E 304 15 minutes before to the start of the test, or by 6:45 p.m. (11:45 a.m. during Ramadan).
Candidates must bring two items to the test location:
- Copy of the email/receipt verifying their enrollment for the specified test date
- A valid Emirates ID card (for UAE residents) or valid passport (for non-resident visitors).
Even though their names are on the proctor’s list, candidates without the appropriate identification and registration confirmation will not be permitted to take the test. They’ll be told to get out of here right away.
Before the test starts at the scheduled time and the proctor notifies the candidates that they can begin, they will not be able to log in and begin.
Candidates must check in using the same email address they enrolled with to take the exam. This email address must be kept in mind by the applicants or brought with them at all times; otherwise, they won’t be able to check in and take the test. In this situation, it will be their duty to sign up and pay for the exam again online at a later time. (The registration fees for the missing test will not be refunded.)
Candidates who come after the test has started will not be permitted to enter and take the test. They will be in charge of signing up and paying for the exam again online at a later time. (The registration fees for the missing test will not be refunded.)
Candidates who fail to show up to take the test on the scheduled date will be subject to the same policy (no refund). Candidates are not permitted to consult the proctor for clarifications or to ask questions about the test’s content. It’s also not permitted to converse with the proctor.
During the test, it is absolutely forbidden for applicants to speak to one another or use any other form of communication.
Any attempt at such communication will be viewed as a violation of integrity. A breach of integrity will also occur if another banned act is committed, such as disruptive behavior or having access to unlawful resources like notes or other documents. Test results for the concerned candidate(s) will be discarded, and Dubai Economy will be notified. The candidates’ attempt to obtain a license might suffer as a result.
The proctor will make an announcement that the two hours of testing are up. Then, test-takers must immediately cease responding to questions and take their hands off the keyboard. A candidate’s test may be rejected if this isn’t done.
Any applicant who completes the test before the allotted two hours has expired must sit still and raise their hand. The proctor will visit the candidate’s computer and check that the test has been submitted correctly. The candidate must sign the document as confirmation of submission. The test proctor will go around and check that all answers have been submitted correctly before allowing applicants to depart.
The CEPPS website, https://cepps.aud.edu, will prompt candidates with a pop-up after the exam has been submitted, letting them know they can view their test results and score there.
A notification email will be sent to test takers who pass the exam when their CEPPS certificate is ready for pickup.
Failing test candidates
They will need to enroll in and successfully complete a five-day qualification course at AUD. There is a final test for the course.
Candidates must visit https://cepps.aud.edu, click the Dubai Economy logo on the top right, then log in to register for the necessary qualifying course. Once you’ve obtained your CEPPS certificate from AUD, you can head to the DED to finish the license issue process.
